Craft Groups

There are currently two types of craft groups running. They’re designed to be relaxed and informal, a way to get out, make new friends, share expertise and generally enjoy ourselves!

Whatever your craft the Magpie Maker has craft groups you can join.

Creative Drop Ins

Naked Coffee (Southampton) can be found at 66 Commercial Road, SouthamptonThis craft group’s open to all crafters (that’s right, any type of craft that you can bring to a cafe with you).

We meet every Thursday morning downstairs at Naked Coffee in Southampton, starting at 10.00am and running until 12.00pm.

There’s no charge to attend the group but I do ask that you buy a drink to thank the cafe for hosting us. (It isn’t a hardship their range of drinks is fantastic!).  We love to share our expertise and if we’re stumped about a problem free Wifi is available so you can consult the internet!

There’s also easy access to power and USB ports.

As the cafe’s right by Southampton Central train station it’s on lots of bus routes but if you prefer to drive there’s a pay and display car park right outside the cafe.

Yarning (Knit and natter or  Crochet and chatter)

I have two Yarning craft groups running at the moment. V1 (version 1) is based in Colden Common at the Dog and Crook Pub , V2 (version 2) is in central Southampton at Naked Coffee.

Yarning is a group of people who love yarn. We help each other with problems, techniques and patterns in a relaxing and sociable way over a drink (and the occasional cheeky cake!)

The groups are open to anyone who knits or crochets. Beginners who come with needles, yarn and pattern they want to make are welcome. We will help them get going are answer questions but there isn’t a chance to teach in detail.

There’s no charge to come along and join in but the venues host us at no charge so I do ask that you at least buy a drink to say thank you.

Yarning V1.

These are the dates which the Colden Common Yarning Group Meet

This group meets every two weeks from 1.30pm – 3.00pm at the Dog and Crook Pub in Colden Common.

We either gather in the pub’s conservatory (if it’s warm enough) or at a window table in the bar. Just buy a drink and come and find us.

If you’re nervous about coming in on your own just get in touch with me and I’ll meet you outside 🙂

We’re a friendly bunch and love meeting new friends. We also have a Facebook Group you can join.
